South Korea Stopped At April 16th

The diverse flowers who hadn't bloomed yet,
The captain threw them away into the ocean.
Deep, Deep, and Deep.

People cried to get back their flowers.
People cried to see them again.

The broadcasting speaks untruth,
The government doesn't help sincerely,
The police blocks people who lost their flowers.

Now, people could see the two faces of government.
Who can calm down their despair,
Who can calm down their anger.

The diverse flowers who hadn't bloomed yet,
They waited for people to save them against freezing,
They waited to see sun on the ground.

Nobody...seeks them.
They're still waiting for people to seek them.
They're still waiting for a saving hand.

Civil Disobedience (Final Exam)

Civil Disobedience, started on July 1846, means acting directly on the object of your protest or the source of your grievance, as opposed to petitioning or lobbying for your elected representatives to act. There were three significant people who protested against the government; Thoreau, Mohandas K. Gandhi and Martin Luther king, Jr. They tried to get human rights for black people. "Government is at best but an expedient; but most governments are usually, and all governments are sometimes, inexpedient" (Thoreau, 1846). Thoreau opens his essay with a radical paradox. A paradox is a statement that expresses the complexity of life by showing how opposing ideas can be both contradictory and true at the same time. When the poet Emily Dickinson wrote the line "Much Madness is divinest sense" (Textbook page 404), she was expressing a paradox. William shakespeare is expressing another paradox when he has one of his young lovers say, "Parting is such sweet sorrow." Paradox was one of Thoreau's favorite literary devices. There is a citation, which is king's Easter epistle on Civil Disobedience by David B. Oppenheimet . THis article is part of the 50th anniversary of the Rev.Martin Luther King Jr's decision to violate an injunction forbidding him to pray, sing or march in public in Birmingham. There is information about that event; on Good Friday 1963 (which feel on April 12 that year), king led a march from the 16th street Baptist church (where four black children would be killed in a bombing five months later), heading toward city hall.

Mohandas K. Gandhi, borned on the 1869s and died on the 1948s, was a leader of India's fight for independence from British rule and he is considered the father of his country. As a young lawyer, Gandhi worked for the rights of Indians living under the racist and repressive government of South Africa. "All strong people in the world adopt this course. Everywhere wars are fought and millions of people are killed. The consequence is not the progress of a nation but its decline...." (Mohandas K. Gandhi, 1869) from on Nonviolent Resistance. He tried to make nonviolent resistance. There is an article called "Credibility Gap in Civil Disobedience Over Guns" by Joseph N. Bee. . IT contains one of the compelling ironies of recent months is playing out in California these days. Owners of assault guns-the "sporting" weapons capable of wiping out a herd of elephants or a platoon of soldiers, both recurring problems in california-are citing the precedent of civil disobedience to justify their refusal to register these guns as required by a law passed in June, 1989.

Martin Luther King, Jr., the brilliant and eloquent leader of the U.S. Civil rights movement in the 1960s, was inspired by the ideas of both Thoreau and Gandhi. King's courageous commitment to nonviolence and passive resistance captured the attention and respect of the nation. "A just law is a man-made code that squares with the moral law or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law..." (Martin Luther King, JR, 1963) from letter from Birmingham City Jail. he gave some examples of unjust and just laws. "THroughout the state of Alabama all types of conniving methods are used to prevent Negroes from becoming registered voters and there are some counties without a single Negro registered to vote despite the fat that the Negro constitutes a majority of the population" (Martin Luther King Jr,1963). There were some leaders of civil disobedience movements around the world, such as Cesar Chavez(United States), Leo Tolstoy (Russia), Rosa Parks (United States), Lech Walesa (Poland), Aung San Su u Kyi (Myanmar, formerly burma), or Nelson MAndela (SOuth Africa).

Framed Found Poem

If you were Martin Luther King Jr at that time.
If you were Martin Luther King Jr at that time,
Could you be a leader of the United States civil rights movement?

He was a black person,
He was really brilliant,
His courageous commitment to nonviolence and passive resistance
captured the attention and respect of the nation.

If you were Martin Luther King Jr at that time,
Could you speech “I have a dream” in front of all people?
He was a black person,
He was really confident,
He was trying to suppose all the black people and he wrote this open
letter explaining his philosophy of nonviolent resistance.

He wasn’t impetuous person,
He wasn’t discourage person,
He was an alacrity person, and he was powerful person.
The aim is to give people more power over their own lives.

What is an American?

What do you think that the United States is? Some people say that the United States is “World of opportunity.” People want to come to the United States because they want to get opportunities. And it called “immigration.” When they are living in the United States, they are becoming an American. What is that mean that they are becoming an American? What is an American?

Americans, or American people, are citizens, permanent residents and natives of the United States. It also includes certain individuals who are considered as nationals of the United States. The country is home to people of different national origins. As a result, Americans do not equate their nationality with ethnicity, but with citizenship. With the exception of the Native American population, generally all Americans or their ancestors immigrated within the past five centuries.

Despite its multi-ethnic composition, the culture held in common by most Americans is referred to as mainstream American culture, a Western culture largely derived from the traditions of Northern and Western European immigrants. It also includes influences of African-American culture. Westward expansion integrated the Creoles and Cajuns of Louisiana and the Hispanos of the Southwest and brought close contact with the culture of Mexico. Large-scale immigration in the late 19th and early 20th centuries from Southern and Eastern Europe introduced a variety of elements. Immigration from Asia, Africa, and Latin America has also had impact. A cultural melting pot, or pluralistic salad bowl, describes the way in which generations of Americans have celebrated and exchanged distinctive cultural characteristics.

An American is anyone who has a lot of opportunities in the United States. In some countries, women can’t drive and show their hair. Also, women can’t get a lot of jobs than men. When I was in my country, there was less opportunities to study than the United States. It means if I don’t know high class’ people, absolutely, I can’t get high level’s job although GPA is higher.

An American is anyone who has human rights. There are a lot of different races in the United States; White people, Black people, Asia people and etc. Rosa Park protested human rights for black people, Lincoln protested human rights for slaves and John Locke protested human rights for people. An American means not race, which has American’s mind inside of their heart is an American.

An American is anyone who know that freedom, peace, and indivisible. People can have any religions what they want; Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim and etc. People can have choose and buy anything what they want; Cars, Foods, Buildings and etc.

American culture encompasses traditions, ideals, customs, beliefs, values, arts, folklore and innovations developed both domestically and imported via colonization and immigration. Prevalent ideas and ideals that evolved domestically such as important national holidays, uniquely American sports, proud military tradition, and innovations in the arts and entertainment give a strong sense of national pride among the population as a whole.

Story of an hour

She grew up during the Civil War and this caused her to be separated from the one friend she had made at the sacred Heart Academy, Kitty Garesche. In 1870, at the age of twenty, she married Oscar Chopin, twenty-five, and the son of a wealthy cotton-growing family in Louisiana. She wrote “The Story of An Hour”. In the end, the equilibrium of her situation is what survives: Brently Mallard’s return signals the return of her oppressive condition and ensures that Louise Mallard will experience no more than a momentary change in her situation. It is this unchanging prospect-the preservation of her oppressive condition-that proves Louise Mallard, or rather her circumstances, fatal to herself.

Only When Louise has become “free! Body and soul free!” is the addressed directly in the text and by her own name. It means when she had disease, she wanted to get freedom from disease. What did it matter! What could love the unsolved mystery, count for in face of this possession of self-assertion which she suddenly recognized as the strongest impulse of her being?

She said it over and over under her breath: “free, free, free!” when she abandoned herself a little whispered word escaped her slightly parted lips. She suffered in her medical and marital conditions, but she also poses a threat to herself, as her sister Josephine warns. This danger is particularly noticeable, since all of the action in the story revolves around Louise Mallard’s preservation. Everything is orchestrated to save her from any sudden and/or extreme distress.

Although Brently “Had never looked save with love upon her,” he disregarded Louise’s happiness: The “lines [of her face] bespoke repression. Her marriage exemplifies the status of women in the early twentieth century in that the woman is subject to the patriarch’s “powerful will bending hers.” When Brently Mallard entered in the house, she died heart disease-of joy that kills.

When Chopin wrote “The Story of An Hour,” a woman was still looked upon as needing the protection and support of her husband. Many of Chopin’s female characters, however, seek freedom from the conventional restraints of society, including marriage. Although women could own property and file for divorce when Chopin wrote this story, independent women were still frowned upon.
